How to Transfer Your Number to Free Phone Gov

Log in to Your Account

Visit the Free Phone Gov portal and sign in. If you’re new here, just click Create an Account and follow the quick setup steps.

Choose “Transfer My Number”

In your dashboard, click Transfer My Number from the menu.

Fill Out the Transfer Form

You’ll be asked to provide:

  • The number you want to transfer
  • The name of your current service provider
  • Your account number
  • Your PIN or password
  • Billing ZIP code

Click Check Eligibility to verify if the number can be ported.

Submit and Wait

If the number is eligible, click Start Transfer. Most transfers are completed within a few hours, but it can take up to 3 business days depending on your old provider.

We’ll email you if we need any extra information.

Confirmation and Activation

Once the transfer is complete, you’ll get an email notification. At this point, your number will be fully active on your Free Phone Gov service.

Common Questions

Will I lose service during the transfer?

Usually not. You can keep using your old phone/service until the transfer is complete.

Do I need a new SIM card?

If your phone is compatible, we’ll mail you a Free Phone Gov SIM. Otherwise, you may be offered a new device.

Can I transfer a landline or VoIP number?

Most mobile numbers can be transferred, but landlines and VoIP numbers may take longer or may not be eligible. Contact us to check before applying.
